Microsoft Office 2010 and Office for Mac 2011
TechSoup, together with Microsoft, offers a variety of office productivity products to help meet your organization's needs. We provide donations of individual Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint and Visio, and we also make available full Microsoft Office suites such as Office Professional Plus 2010, Office Standard 2010, and Office for Mac 2011 Standard Edition.
For those who have requested a Microsoft Office donation recently, here are some tips to help you get started with your product and links to support from Microsoft. On this page you will also find links to resources on TechSoup and elsewhere.
Donation Email
When you request your donation from TechSoup, and after your eligibility has been verified and your administrative fee has been received, you will receive an email at your organization email address from TechSoup with the following information:
Sender and email: Microsoft Fulfillment at TechSoup [msdp@techsoup.org]
Subject: Microsoft Volume License Agreement and Activation for Donation
If you can't find the message, search your email for the sender and subject above, including your junk or spam folder. If you still can't find the message, contact Client Services for further assistance.
Receiving Office for Mac 2011
For Office for Mac 2011, the license key for this product is embedded in the DVD-ROM. When you receive the disc, you can use it to install the product on as many computers as the quantity for which you have requested donations. This quantity is specified in your donation email.
Receiving Office 2010
If you requested Office 2010, you were given the option to download the software or receive it on disc. If you chose to download your product, it must be downloaded from Microsoft's Volume Licensing Service Center. For instructions on how to use this service, read our Guide to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center and Guide to Microsoft Volume Licensing Installation and Activation Methods.
Whether you download Office 2010 or receive it on disc, you will need a license key to install it. In your donation email, you will find instructions for retrieving your license keys from Microsoft's Volume Licensing Service Center.
Installing Microsoft Office Products
Once you have received your product, install it by running the program and following the on-screen instructions. Here are some resources from Microsoft on how to install these products:
- Install Office 2010 from a Local Installation Source
- Run Setup from a Network Installation Point
- Pilot and Deploy Office 2010
Note: For downloaded products, you can use the same installation file to install the software on all the computers on which you plan to use the product. For example, you can copy the downloaded file onto a portable drive and copy it from there onto the other computers. In other words, you do not need to re-download the product on every computer on which you plan to install it.
Product Upgrades
Microsoft releases new versions of its Office applications on a regular basis. Since Office products acquired through TechSoup come with Software Assurance, you have the right to download and install free upgrades. For more information, read the article Volume Licensing Service Center — Software Assurance Benefits.
